iPadio is a new online service which lets you set up and broadcast your own Internet radio station – as well as phlog (phone blog) news and information -from your mobile phone. They also call it phonecasting, so take your pick of terminology. The whole thing is free, you can embed the podcast p’cast on your web site or Facebook account via Twitter, and the interface is really clean. Visitors can sign up to RSS or subscription delivery of your dulcet words, which makes it nicely accessible for your fans.
To use, just register, dial the phone number your given, enter the PIN and you’re live to the world. Great for roving reports, ad-hoc interviews at the scene of an incident or any other application where sound beats text. The one thing I’d like to see is some way to set up a permanent embed of your broadcast archive, so you can run a weekly audio program on your site or blog and have the shows automatically update and link to archives via some sort of embedded widget.
But that said it’s still a cool little application, nicely designed and rather useful to boot.
ipadio allows you to broadcast from any phone to the internet, live. Phone blog, commentate, collect audio data, record and update the world or simply let your mates know what you’re doing – ipadio is integrated with Twitter & Facebook.
The thing you want, the "permanent embed of your broadcast archive" – we have that – see http://www.london.gov.uk/mayor/seoul/phonecasts.j… Let us know if you want setting up.
