JetClean is the best Windows power utility we’ve ever seen [Freeware]

Jetclean

Over the years we’ve reported on a bunch of free utility programs which will tweak, optimize and turbo-charge your Windows PC. Each of the programs we’ve recommended has offered a specialisation, such as GameBooster for speeding up the machine when you want to play games, or CCleaner for tidying up redundant files. Now there’s a new and very cool kid on the block, which provides a more generalist approach by combining all the major tweaks in one very sophisticated package.

JetClean is the name of the newbie, and it’s one of the most impressive Windows utilities we’ve come across in a long time. The core of the free program is a powerful system optimizer, which scans your computer and cleans up the registry, removes redundant and temp files, and generally does a full blown spring clean of your Windows installation.

It’s extremely thorough and comes with a full set of options to let you customise what is allowed and not, so you shouldn’t receive any surprises. The really cool thing about the program though, is the fact that you also get a full suite of other tools you can use on your machine, thrown in. There’s a nice uninstaller, to make it easier to remove programs on your machine (one great touch is you can see which programs take up the most space, and uninstall space hogs you don’t use).

You can also optimize your startup process to try and speed up Windows boot times, and there’s a great performance booster (like Game Booster) which shuts down processes you don’t need, so you can play your games faster and without glitches. It also works to optimize your machine for normal work, which is a bonus.

This bit is actually a separate utility called JetBoost, which you can download for free on its own if you don’t need the rest. There are also two Pro tools (costing $1.66 a month subscription) which will defrag your registry and optimize your Internet connection, but we’re not sure the extra functionality is worth the fee. If it was a flat price it would make more sense, but we have an inbuilt dislike of monthly subscription based software.

Anyway, all in all, this is a stonking program and incredible value for what you get. It combines the best of the current stock of freeware Windows utilities, with some excellent new features and gives PC owners solid control over the state of their computer, which is a very good thing. Recommended and definitely a keeper.
