Jott – instant voice reminders sent to email from your cell phone

Jott is a super cool mobile phone application which lets you send instant voice reminders, notes, to-do list items or whatever from your mobile phone. What’s clever is that these notes will be transcribed and delivered to your email inbox or to your contacts instantly. So it’s kind of like an infinite memo taker. US only at the moment, but a really cool idea nonetheless. [Via Lifehacker]

A Jott is a thought, an idea, a task, an action item, a phone number, a gift, a check list for your move, a to-do for today, a request from a customer, a moment in time, a restaurant recommendation — it’s anything you want to offload to remember later. You can Jott yourself or you can Jott a contact. How do I Jott? No matter where you are – you can Jott instantly. If you’re out and about, just dial 877-568-8486 and say your Jott at the beep.

  • I’m struggling to think of an application for this. If you’ve got your phone with you, why not just use SMS – it’ll be cheaper, or make a note/reminder/etc. on your phone.

Hmm… not too excited by this one. web2 overload methinks.

  • Talking to our computers to send messages? Are you kidding? No, I’ll just sit there with my thumb… while driving. :-)

I’ve used this a couple of times already and see it as the future. If you don’t, you will.

  • Mike, I just thought it was pretty cool to have a voice service available rather than having to type stuff via SMS etc. Also the main thing is the transfer to email, which is a very logical transfer from the mobile world to the desktop where a lot of our work is done. Perhaps. :-)

  • I use spinvox for this and other voicemail and text services. They automatically turn my voicemail into a text message/email. They do this very well too. I signed up for their one year free trial. They also let you update your blog, leave memos and speak emails with their voice to text services. Heres the site
