Kachingle – micropayment crowdfunding for digital stuff

Kachingle is a new micropayment system that relies on lots of people allocating small amounts of money to an acount which automatically disburses pennies according to the places you visit often. It actually sounds as if it could work, but of course we’ll only know when huge numbers of people are happily using it.

The interesting thing is that everyone is encouraged to keep an account going with some money in it, both readers and publishers. This suggests that you could share your generosity between publishers – you click my site, I’ll click yours to show appreciation of places you visit regularly. The fact that you only have to click once actually is pretty cool, after that the system automagically leaves a tip when you return to the site.

It’s all customisable of course. Hmm…wonder whether we should try it out? Would you lot pay anything to be Ferreted?

We also believe that because it takes real time, money, and insight to create and maintain valued online content and services, a business model for sustaining them must be available. Advertising, freemium, product sales, and subscription business models are partial answers, but Kachingle is a more direct mechanism that can complement these forms of revenue generation.
