KAMO-OTO DIY Cardboard Keyboard – turn boring cardboard into a musical instrument

Technology is getting more and more advanced but despite all the different materials we have at our disposable, cardboard is really catching on as a build base. Which is strange but mostly really, really cool. The KAMO-OTO DIY Cardboard Keyboard uses this basic material to make an awesome, playable keyboard.

The gadget is made from cardboard and silicon rubber parts that you fold together, like origami, to create the keyboard. The act of putting this together is meant to be, in its own way, a relaxing one. Once built, it can be connected to a smartphone or computer and you’re ready to play.

It connects though micro USB cable but this the cable is not included in the kit. You can use the free app that comes with the device or any other. There is also a version that connects very Bluetooth. This is iOS only which is a bummer because it seems like such fun! It is currently raising money through Kickstarter and if it meets its goals. You can preorder yours starting at ¥3,000 (about $8).
