Keep Moving – UK traffic information goes all citizen motorist

Keepmoving

Keep Moving is a great new UK traffic information service. Why? Because it uses motorists as part of the reporting process. The idea is that anyone can call in to the 64644 number to report a traffic jam or incident which they encounter, which will then be instantly relayed to other users of the service via website or voice call. The service also has its own reporters and you can specify which major route, direction and even time slot to check.

It’s simple, well designed and light years ahead of stodgy and pathetic equivalents from the major sites like the RAC, AA and Highways Agency. One hint though guys, cut the voice service preamble down to zero and just give us the facts of the report so we can get on with making re-routing decisions. Not interested in the name of the reporter and all that fake newsroom rubbish.

Hmm…the alternative SMS Traffic Alerts service looks pretty useful too, as does Frixo.
