Keomo Solar Powered GPS Receiver – perpetual motion in action

The Keomo Solar Powered Bluetooth GPS Receiver is so logical it’s a wonder it took so long to arrive on the market. GPS receivers for the most part sit on car dashboards facing the sky, so what better way to power them than using a small solar array rather than all those nasty cables into lighter sockets. The internal rechargeable batteries also provide 100 hours operation, with a trickle charge we assume.

In addition to the excellent chipset, the dual power mechanism (battery and solar energy) generates an amazing operating time of 100 hours straight. When weather conditions are favorable, the device can be left permanently in stand-by modus! Thanks to the extra solar energy, continuous power is guaranteed and you won’t have to grab for the charging cables anymore. Obviously, the solar GPS earns the title of the GPS receiver with the longest operating and stand-by time now available.

  • That’s a wonderful idea. If it was a full GPS rather than just a receiver, I’d replace my Garmin eTrex immediately. For a decent multi-day hike, I have to carry more weight in batteries than the GPS itself! Regrettably, AA battery solar chargers haven’t fit the bill either. :-(

  • this is very good gadget mainly if you really like to hiking. thanks for the information. i will try use my magellan explorist gc with this device.
