Kiddle – google for the baby set

Years ago, when it was time for a school report, kids trekked to the library and pulled out encyclopedias for information. Now, we Google it. Less trekking and more up to date information. The downside is that not everything that comes up in search is appropriate for young learners. Enter Kiddle, the search engine for kids.

Even turning on safe search won’t stop all the content that is not ok for children from ending up in the search results. Kiddle is Google that’s designed to only serve up results that will be safe for the younger set to view. Kiddle filters out the NSFW content or even just results that are way over the grade level and lists the safe results in order of how easy they are for children to understand.

There’s also an additional filter so that they cannot search for, ahem, adult topics. If they try to search for them, a robot will pop up and stop them. It lets them view web results, see images, read news, and watch videos. A sort of Google lite for young viewers. Give Kiddle a try by going to the website.
