Until now, outdoor LCD displays go black at 75°C which is warm enough to be sure, but Korea’s LG has gone
one twenty five better. Their new 55″ inch outdoor LCD display can withstand temperatures up to 100°C.
This new panel will be cheaper and brighter than standard displays and will sport a proprietary liquid crystal structure technology, In-plane switching (IPS) technology with an LED backlight, and a low light reflection rate of under 2 percent, realizing a brightness level of 2000cd. The panel will debut at the China Optoelectronics and Display Expo 2010 on May 8th. A few more degrees and it will be autoclavable. [Via]
