Listen to mother.

Magnetictime

Magnetic Time. Listen to your Word documents or emails in audio MP3 format on your iPod, mobile phone or Pocket PC. The idea is pretty cool, but the price is a tad high at $54.99.

  •  SPACE: Will it take up much Space on my iPod (Phone/PDA)? No! We use 4-5 times ‘less’ space (per email or document page) than a typical song on your iPod.
  • THE VOICE: Is the Voice like those tinny ones in bad sci-fi movies? No! Advances in speech technology, have produced new & natural sounding voices like ‘Heather’ the voice you hear on this web site. Heather, our Platinum Voice is supplied as standard.
  • PC PLAYER: Can I Play my emails & docs on my PC as well? Yes. We supply you with the MagneticTime ‘Desktop Player’ as standard with the product (or you can use iTunes if installed)

  • I love the idea. But, you are right at that price it is pretty expensive. Opera browser has built-in text-to-speech. It may not be quite as clear as the voice you hear at magnetic time, but it is still not bad. To get it to MP3 however is the trick. You have to “record it” first using some sort of audio capture software. I use MusicMatch Jukebox to do it.

  • yeah I guess you’re paying for the seamless conversion to MP3, still a bit expensive though agreed.
