LocatePC is a small freeware program that sends you a secret email message from your computer if it is stolen and subsequently connected to the Internet. The email contains information on the local IP address, plus a traceroute and stuff, which means it should be easier to locate the machine’s position and effect a recovery. Neat.
LocatePC is free software, and runs unobtrusively on your computer, with no icons, popups or saved emails. If your computer is stolen then the thief will not even know that LocatePC is running, and as soon as they connect to the internet a secret email is sent to you containing the details that you need to track your hardware.
That’s good isn’t it. You need to tell the thief your Windows login password first however, then you can find them…. oh wait.
Yeah, not so good freeware. What’s the point???? Ferret needs to take a look at these things before they post them.
