I’ve been using one of these ‘ere Logitech Marathon M705 mouses for a while now, and I’m just reporting in to say…very nice! Regular readers will know of our love affair with the high grade mouse range from Logitech -they’re sturdy, well engineered and come with a fabulous free-moving (hyperscroll) scroll wheel which is the crack cocaine of web surfing action. Once you’ve scrolled around a page using the free-wheel you will NOT want to go back to any other type of mouse wheel. Seriously!
Anyway this new model apparently offers a whopping 3 years of battery life from a single battery set, but it’s hard to check that out quickly right? What I can say is the teeny wireless dongle, the lovely ergonomics and the fact that you can now use the mouse wheel as a centre click auto-scroll, as well as free-wheel mode, now makes this just about the best mouse I’ve ever used. The only thing which might improve it would be to build a slot for the dongle inside the mouse itself, like they used to do with their travel mouse, so you don’t lose it in transit.
The company appears to have put the problems with dodgy button components behind them nowadays thank goodness – my old Revolution MX has been happily running for 2 years with no glitches – which means this is all good news for a company which prides itself on being the Rolls Royce of computer accessories. Priced at £40.86 / $49.99.
