Lunascape – the world’s fastest ever web browser?

Lunascape is being billed as the world’s fastest ever web browser, and we’re going to be charitable and say…well very little. It’s an early codebase – alpha in fact – and hugely ambitious since it incorporates the three biggest browser engines in existence, Webkit, Trident and Gecko. But you know what, apart from that it comes across as pretty ordinary. Especially since we Firefox users can do much of the same thing with a simple plugin. We’ll take another look at it in a while to see if there’s something spectacular to make us envious. But not holding breath are we.

World’s First Triple-Engine Web Browser. Do you use multiple web browsers? Juggling multiple web browsers is not so uncommon to overcome incompatibity and inefficiency of web sites or browsers that are not well optimized to web standards. But it’s not that power users who know how to install and use multiple browsers actually love the hassle at the cost of their precious time.

  • Chrome beats Firefox hands-down for speed, so no doubt it will beat this too.

  • It started loading automatically on windows boot up, which is a definite no-no here, so it’s been uninstalled with extreme prejudice. Stupid move on their part.

Also I don’t like how the uninstall setting to restore previous file associations is greyed out, and the fact that it tries to set Internet Explorer as the default browser on uninstall. Are they insane?
