The M-Bird MP3 Player must be vying for the smallest media player with stereo speakers on-board. Of course calling it a ‘’boombox’ may be exaggerating a little, even if the specs – inbuilt FM tuner, recording from radio etc – are pretty decent. $189.00 and available in a few colours.
Along with MP3, unprotected WMA, and OGG audio files, it’ll play AVI, MPEG, WMV, and ASF video files (after converting with the included software), JPEG images, and TXT files (with auto scrolling). Includes an FM stereo tuner as well with 20 presets. Can record MP3 audio from the FM radio, the built-in mic or the line in/external mic jack. Two voice-activated settings can automatically pause during silences, or break up the recording into multiple files. Also includes some interesting “insert recorded phrase during playback” features for use with learn-a-language audio files.
Looks like a nice unit, but what a terrible name. Certainly they could have come up with something better than that…
