Make your own short USB cables for travel

I’m in the process of moving to a new house, and packing my belongings has made me very aware of just how much stuff I posses. While going through my closet full of computer supplies (everyone has one of those, right?) I started emptying my drawers full of cables, one of which was entirely dedicated to USB cables. It’s always surprising to see just how many different types there are. Since there’s nothing to be done about the number of different connectors, what you can do is craft cables that take up less space.

This Instructables guide can show you how to take any USB cable and shorten it to just a few inches. While this might not seem like a wise idea, just think about how much room such cords take up in your laptop bag. Rarely do you need a long cord when you’re traveling, so why not take that 6′ cable and turn it into a 6 one? Just a little bit of work will lead to not having tangled cords in your laptop bag.
