MakerBot Thing-O-Matic is the ultimate 3D printer kit

There’s a certain sense of satisfaction that you get from crafting something with your own two hands. But I wonder, do you get the same satisfaction when it’s something that’s crafted by a device you made with your own two hands? Well, there is only one way to find out. And that’s by putting together your very own MakerBot Thing-O-Matic 3D Printer and having it churn out creations of its own.

This Thing-O-Matic printer does more than most 3D printers that you can get your hands on. Most 3D printers will need you to clear away the printed object before moving on to the next one. That’s not the case here, as it will automatically clear the previous work, and chug right along to the next one. They don’t even need to be the same creation. You can queue up as many things as you like. Just keep it stocked with ABS plastic and it will do the rest. That not exciting enough for you? Well you can download the files to print out every part needed to make your own Thing-O-Matic. That’s right, you can print a 3D printer from your 3D printer. How meta is that? Of course, my favorite feature is the ability to replace the plastic with cake frosting. Who wouldn’t want to print out the perfect frosting design?

The printer kit will set you back about $1,350, while a fully-assembled printer is going to run $2,550. Honestly, if you’re going to buy a CNC machine, why not save the money and assemble it yourself?

  • To my view this Thing-O-Matic printer has a great support to its user. It is true that Most 3D printers will need to clear away the printed object before moving on to the next one but this Thing-O-Matic printer done this work automatically. Thanks for this input.
