Cattle and other herds get a bad rap when it comes to climate change but they can actually be a force for some good. By using different farming methods, domestic herds can be beneficial to helping fight against climate change through managed grazing.
The ground holds carbon that otherwise escapes into the air. Our current farming practices in many cases make the land unable to hold anything. By letting the animals graze in rotating fields they aren’t overgrazing and their waste will help fertilize the ground while their walking pushes the earth down.
Overtime the ground will recover allowing it to not only support more flora but also hold more carbon, as far as the theory goes. This process is also far more gentle on natural grass and forest lands. Check out the full article to see how the process works and it’s benefits.
