Medical Lyft – company is partnering with doctors for app based transportation

Making it to doctor’s appointments can be a hassle if you don’t have reliable transportation. This can lead to missed appointments and inadequate healthcare. Lyft has announced that it’s partnering with health providers to help people get to the them.

Lyft Business and Allscripits are working together to help patients get to and from their appointments. This service would go through the providers so even people who do not have a smartphone (which you need to use the rideshare service) will be able to access the service.

The service is for nonemergency calls. This is not a replacement for ambulances. It’s more like medical transport, but an individual scale. If you are suffering from an emergency, it’s still more than advisable to call an ambulance as your Lyft driver will probably not have the skillset to save your life. Still, with Uber’s announcement earlier last week as well as this, it seems ridesharing is making it’s way into healthcare.
