Mega Underground Bike Park provides healthy fun year-round

For many, getting exercise involves going to a gym, especially when the weather turns cold and nasty. Sometimes it’s important to take a break from technology and clear your head. Now some folks in Louisville, Kentucky have come up with the perfect venue for that.

The Mega Underground Bike Park is located 10 stories (100 feet / 30.5 meters) underground in a former limestone mining cavern. The only underground bike park in the world, it measures 320,000 square feet (29,729 square meters) and includes over 45 looping dirt trails. These include jump lines, pump tracks, dual slalom, BMX, and easier-to-ride single track trails. The Mega Cavern also features a zip line, ropes course, tram tours and other attractions.

Open since February 9th in Louisville, Kentucky, the bike park stays at a comfortable 60 degrees (15ºC) year round. That makes it ideal when it’s snowing out (as winter seems to keep hanging around) and you want to get out and bike.

Reasonably priced – $24 US gets you four hours of use, or $40 for eight, with group rates are available- bike rentals should be available this April. Sounds like it’s a great place for families and avid bikers alike to enjoy.
