Memjet print engine technology. It looks as though inkjet printers are about to move up to a completely new speed level with the arrival of this new print engine technology from Australian company Silverbrook Research. It’s basically a page wide array of inkjets which lay down the pigment in one swipe, hence the mind-boggling speeds of up to 60 ppm full colour.
The key is not just the speed however, but the price, since this looks to be the first technology of the type which may well come to market at a reasonable cost. It’s all covered by 1400 patents and seems to have some heavyweight industrial backers, so watch out for this in the coming months. Check out the rather impressive videos. [photo]
Silverbrook Research developed the Memjet page-wide-array technology with the objective of creating the ultimate print technology. The Memjet printhead spans the width of the page and prints the entire page in a single pass. Through a combination of advanced printheads, driver chips, software, and ink Memjet can produce photo-quality prints at high speeds, with low printer costs and a low cost per page.
