The Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter is fast becoming another one of these way-to-successful projects, with NASA swamped by the huge amounts of data it’s sending back. To help, they’re going Mechanical Turk and farming out the identification work to humans via the Moon Zoo site.
To help just create an account and start perusing images of the lunar surface; you can identify craters, lava flows and even the odd bit of lunar lander. Sounds like a fun way to while away some hours. For a change in perspective you can also head on over to Galaxy Zoo and help spot for Hubble.
We need your help to explore the lunar surface, by answering a series of questions about what you see. The most important thing to remember is that we’ve chosen tasks that are best done by humans rather than computer, so please don’t spend much more than a minute on a any single image.
