Remember the 90s when everything cool came in holograms? Morphotonix has now taken that same aesthetic to an unlikely place – chocolate.
We all know holograms, they glisten and shift with changes in light, caused by the precise interplay of light on a surface, typically metallic. They’re used for security stickers, trading cards, and collectables etc. They’re pretty common, but not so much on consumables. In fact it’s unheard of, since snacking on aluminum is generally considered to be a very bad idea.
In order to get past this, Morphotonix, the company responsible for this sorcery, etches the 3D structures directly into the chocolate keeping it edible. That’s right, that’s straight up holographic chocolate. No additives. Just chocolate.
This isn’t the only application for their technology. They plan on using it for any 3D molded structure that has thus far been unable to hold a hologram. Which is basically anything that isn’t metal. They’re currently working on bringing this wonderment to market and hope to have holographic chocolate for sale in the next year.
