Motion sensing monitor.

The iiyama Prolite X486S flat screen LCD monitor is the only UK model to come with motion sensing technology which can tell when someone sits down in front and power itself accordingly. That’s definitely kind of cool in an eco warrior kinda way, although maybe we should start asking just how Star Trek we want our world to become? Or rather, how Cyberdyne? £249.00 + VAT.

The X series is a new breed of intelligent display from iiyama. The only LCD in the UK to have an infrared motion sensor for advanced power management, it also features an ambient light sensor to automatically adjust brightness levels in keeping with your environment.

  • I cover extensilvely the subject of robotization and how it affects our everyday lives in my blog (see “Robotization and the future”.)
I find it extremely exciting and am posting an entry on how Robotization and Offshore outsourcing affect you and what you can do to be prepared.
In a time when we are working on insect robots -some of which can generate their own fuel, like the fly eating robot-, have other machines that can chat with us in real time quite well, make most of the things we can do better and even look human, I think that the question you are posing is already answer…it is too late to go back.
there are hundreds of researchers around the world working on different projects with extremely important social consequences that are not going back. We -humans- may be redundant in at least 85% of the jobs before 30 years…
Congratulations for your always interesting blog!
    Best regards

  • My Sony SDM-N60 has this feature and it’s over 5 years old.
