Mozy nixes unlimited storage plans

I’ve been a big fan of Mozy‘s cloud storage service, and have been using it for a couple of years now. It’s saved me a lot of hassle on more than one occasion. Granted, I just use their free service, because I back up most of my larger files on a small NAS. However, the day-to-day use files get backed up to the cloud. It’s quite wonderful, really. Unfortunately for the heavier users, you’ll find that the winds of change are blowing.

One of the great things that Mozy offered was the ability to store unlimited files on their servers. Yes, unlimited. Unfortunately allowing people to store unlimited amounts of data can be extermely costly. This is the major factor in them deciding to put a cap on their services. Granted, most people still won’t use more than the 125GB that their largest Home plan allows, but it is unfortunate to hear nonetheless.
