Mr Gold LEGO – or how to waste up to $1200 on a so-called collectible

goldlego

Proof that some people definitely have got more money than sense, is this new figurine from the LEGO family. Mr Gold LEGO is actually not gold at all, but gold painted plastic, but because he’s one of only 5000 limited edition, he’s priced…ahem…aggressively.

The price range seems to vary between $800 and $1200, although of course it’s not LEGO doing the damage, it’s opportunist resellers as ever, who are trying to cash in on the rarity value. The figurine is actually sold as a random distribution in boxes of generic figurines from LEGO, as a sort of gift surprise to lucky buyers.

Well not any more.
