Childhood cancer is a very scary thing that many children must face. My Special AFLAC Duck is a sweet and thoughtful gadget designed to give comfort to these children during what is likely the hardest time of their lives.

This is a robotic duck that can attend chemotherapy treatments with the child. It even has its own lines so that caretakers can hook it up to a mock treatment and the child won’t feel so alone. Through the use of AR, children can wash, feed, and interact with the duck so they can feel as they are caring for someone else.

The duck also reacts to other ducks that are nearby, like Furbies used to do. This way they can help foster relationships between children going through the same thing. The ducks are not out yet but they will be free to people who use a participating center. Although this is a branded product, the concept is a wonderful one.
