Nanoblock Camera – tiny lo-fi camera is also mucho fun to play with

Who says cameras have to be all work and no play? We’re so obsessed nowadays with our multi-megapixel, pattern weighted, flexi-ISO beasts that sometimes we forget that photography is simply capturing light. And if you’ve ever gone through the pangs of not having a camera in your pocket when a perfect shot appears, you’ll know how annoying it can be.

This Nanoblock Camera may not be the last thing in high resolution imaging, but it combines a couple of neat features in a very small and convenient package. For one thing, you can capture both stills and video with the thing, and it copes with up to 720 resolution, and audio too.

For another, it plugs straight into a USB port to let you download your photos instantly, no fiddling around with cables or software, and we like that Marge, we like it a lot. The final bit though is the funnest. It comes with an extra 28 blocks to let you customize the look and feel of your little camera to the way you want. We’re thinking a funky little ledge would be nice.

The sensor is a paltry 2 megapixels (you can stop sniggering Mr Nikon if you don’t mind) and it accepts microSD cards up to 16GB, which probably translates into a gazillion images at that resolution. Stick the 2.5 inch long thing in your pocket or bag and you’ll always have something to amuse the kids at parties. Priced at $70.00 including a 4GB memory card.
