NeverNote is an open source clone of Evernote [Daily Freeware]

If you’ve never heard of Evernote, it’s the very successful cloud (ie Web) based content capturing service. The idea is you run their software in the background, and when you come across something you want to save, like a recipe, photo, news article or even road sign, you just clip it to Evernote and it’s instantly stored online for you to access from any computer anywhere. It’s clever stuff all right.

NeverNote is a simplified open source clone of Evernote which offers a subset of the functionality, but at a very reduced – um…free –  price. Well actually, since Evernote is also free for basic users, price is not so much the issue here, but running on other platforms like Linux definitely is. Even more confusing is the fact that NeverNote will happily work with Evernote, which is useful and probably indicates that this started as a pet project of an Evernote coder. Anyway, if you need a Linux based web clipper, then this is probably your best bet, so enjoy.
