Fresh water is so important to pretty much all life but we only have so much of it. Which is why finding more is so exciting! A new freshwater reserve has been discovered offshore of New Zealand. The new reserve could help areas that regularly struggle with drought.
The new reserve is about the size of Rhode Island which is the smallest state but it’s still a state. It was sized by using 3D mapping technology and since they’re not quite finished exploring it yet, it could actually be larger than that.
This isn’t the only underground reserve ever discovered but currently there are no formal ways to search for such things and are often found by accident while engaging in other activities. Still, this is quite the find!
