There are lots of alarm clocks in the world, and they seem to be getting more popular by the year. A symptom perhaps of our problems with getting up in the morning? Well anyhoo, the key challenge apparently seems to be making it hard enough to switch off the alarm so you wake up properly, and not so hard that you dig the sledgehammer out of the closet. What you don’t have a hammer in your closet? Tsk.
The Nixie Ramos Alarm Clock is one of the latest iterations, and it achieves its Annoying Factor by quite simply placing the off switch in another room, complete with a PIN code (the date). The idea is that by the time you’ve dragged yourself out of bed and entered in the PIN, you’ll be wide awake.
We actually think this is too tame. If this was our product, we’d stick the deactivation module on the wall at work or in your college classroom, so you’d have to get dressed, commute to your target and only then could you turn off the alarm. What? You don’t think so? Anyway, the clock looks gorgeous (gotta love them Nixie tubes) and it’s going to be a real pleasure waking up to all that lovely teak wood and design stuff.
You’ll pay for the privilege though, at $350.00 per. Maybe we’ll just stick to our disposable $10 plastic thing we throw through the window at the neighbour’s cat each morning.
WTF monitor ??? =)) i like this
They got the project funded through kickstarter and the first clocks should be shipped out before Christmas according to the latest update.
