There’s a type of pollution that we don’t talk about much but it affects our bodies more than we realize. Noise pollution. Loud cars and noisy neighbors are one thing but there’s a new problem caused by the tech industry and it’s not something we can adapt to.
It turns out that technology causes a lot of noise. Not just notifications and the like but a constant, steady din. It’s not loud but it’s constant. It may make you think of a white noise machine, which sounds soothing, but in reality it’s aggravating.
The article from the Atlantic is long (but worth the read) and follows a single community. That being said, there are tech centers all over. There are server rooms in offices all across the country. How much of your stress is caused by this noise? This isn’t a call to end technology (obviously, we dig technology) but just to be mindful.
