The new Nvidia Tegra ‘Computer on a Chip’ is very interesting for a number of reasons. First, it is very small (smaller than a US dime coin), second it uses less than a tenth of the power of equivalent power chipsets. This means that we could be close to seeing real live all-day portable computing on a single battery charge. Which would be superb. They’re talking 130 hours audio and 30 hours HD video playback, direct support for WiFi, 1080p HDMI output and optimised Web support for rich site interactivity.
