Old time elegance marries solar technology with solar outdoor clocks

Outdoor clocks have been a fixture of large and small towns for several hundred years or more. But add solar to the mix and it gets interesting.

Chumko LA’s Solar Outdoor Street Clocks combine the old fashioned elegance of a street clock with solar and GPS technology. Certified waterproof and rust proof, these clocks are synchronized with GPS satellites, receiving daily GPS updates to ensure the time display stays accurate. And it automatically adjusts to daylight savings time. Its motor requires minimal sunlight and has its own battery system.

Easy to install, each clock only requires four anchor bolts for a surface mount. And they need zero maintenance. Its dial face lighting is powered by a 20-watt solar panel that’s hidden between the name plates on the top of the clock and can be adjusted to stay lit 4 hours, 8 hours or dawn to dusk, depending on the region of the country the clock is installed. Available with customizable nameplates, these timepieces cost nothing to operate and have a zero carbon footprint. Made in the USA, they’re already in use on numerous golf courses across the country. And it’s also available in the UK. These would look great in a city park or downtown near a nice outdoor cafe. Definitely would add to the ambiance.
