Open Source Food is a simply delicious recipe and foodie site. If anyone asks you what Web 2.0 is about, point them here immediately. It’s not about style, although that has a lot to do with it (and this site oozes style from every succulent pore). Nor is it about content alone, although it’s hugely important. And no, Web 2.0 is not just about the social folksonomy either (whatever *that* means).
What makes this site, and the few others like it, so innovative, appealing and useful is accessibility. The best of the Web now lets us consume, contribute and enjoy content using easily understood interfaces with lots of added value thrown in. It relies on a lot of very cool tech in the background as I’ve noted before, but sites and services that get it right really point the way to the future of the ‘new’ web for the mass market. We’ve got to get away from impenetrable layouts, cluttered navigation and clunky menus if we’re ever going to encourage the cautious avoiders into this new universe.
