Openbook – exposing Facebook’s privacy nightmare, one gaff at a time

Openbook

Openbook is a simple and very effective demonstration of why Facebook can be so damaging. Sure there are lots of privacy settings available, but for the average person they’re a mystery, which is why people publish things they later regret. Do a search on this site to see the kind of stuff which you probably wouldn’t want the world to know.

What is Openbook? Openbook draws attention to the information Facebook makes public about its users via its search API. Facebook exposed this service on April 21st, 2010. Our goal is to get Facebook to restore the privacy of this information, so that this website and others like it no longer work…This website is a parody, and has no relationship to Facebook.

      Love it! Thanks Peter! :)

  • I've had enough and moved my stuff over tohttp://www.folkdirect.com – seems cool so far and the main thing is they have built it from the ground up with privacy at the top of the agenda. Good functionality.
