PAL-V Helicycle – your Jetson’s flying car has just arrived and awaits your orders

Well it’s taken long enough, but it looks as though the reality of a flying car is actually with us. In other words you can now buy something that hums along the highway and then quickly converts into a flying vehicle to boldly go where no man has ever gone before. Or something.

The PAL-V Helicycle is a two seater three wheeled motorcycle (or trike), which scoots along at 112mph in the air or on the ground. You get 0-60 mph in under 8 seconds, and when you want to start flying, it takes around 10 minutes to do the conversion.

The craft is actually a gyrocopter, in that the top rotor is not powered, and instead gives lift from the forward motion of the vehicle, which means you only need a Sports Pilot Certificate (similar as for ultra-light aircraft) in order to get behind the wheel. The 27 gallon tank of this Dutch designed whizz, gives it a range of 750 miles on the road, and 220 miles in the air, more than enough to get to the local Walmart and back.

Please form an orderly queue and have your $295,000 purchase cash ready to deploy on request.
