Paul – your friendly video buddy makes sure you get your fill of mobile fun [Freeware]

paul

You know how you were wishing that it was easier to find video content you enjoyed, and how you would really prefer if it downloaded onto your phone or tablet in the background automatically when you were WiFi connected rather than on your 3G mobile plan?

Yeah well about that. There’s this app called Paul – from the octopus, not alien – which promises to deliver exactly the kind of videos you love from all your favorite places. Facebook, YouTube, Last.FM…wait…is that a video channel? Apparently so.

Anyway this freaky little app, with the freaky little name really does seem to do what’s promised, and if it actually can learn from you what you like over time, it’ll be a marvel of software engineering no question. The idea is the app downloads all this cool content you like only over WiFi, and store it on your phone or tablet so you can enjoy it anytime without having to hit your data plan.

It features widgets for instant viewing access and gives you fine grained control over the type of videos you like, so for example, you can turn off sports stuff and emphasize kittens if that’s your bag. We suspect that kittens will feature a lot on many people’s top content. Anyhoo, if you’re a glutton for cute, funny, tripe which makes you laugh, or you’re a high brow TED and breaking news lover, then this could be exactly the app you’ve been looking for. Works on iPhone and Android.
