There are a ton of apps that turn your phone’s camera into a scanner with varying success. Google has introduced PhotoScan, the camera scanner that is optimized for scanning photos for easier sharing and saving.

We like to take photos and this isn’t a new phenomenon. There’s probably a huge number of pictures scattered throughout your family members in boxes and albums all over the place. Unfortunately, physical photos degrade over time. You can save the image by using this to scan them in and at least save them in the digital world.

This app uses edge detection to automatically crop photos so you only get the picture, not a bunch of background. It also corrects for perspective and has smart rotation so the picture is always right side up.
