PlugLock – keep those pesky wall warts in their place

Image

Large DC power transformers (or wall warts) are the scourge of power boards everywhere. Sure you can buy special power boards to fit them, but the sheer weight of some transformers mean they can fall out very easily, especially if they’re hanging down. Well not anymore, now there’s the PlugLock power board.

The board itself was designed especially to go into the back of AV racks so it has plenty of space between sockets for fat wall warts or even normal power cords. To keep them secure each socket has a bracket which you can adjust to clamp the transformer or plug in place.

It’s made of steel and is equipped with mounting holes at each end so you can secure it in any position. The board is rated to 15 Amps at 120 Volts so it’s good for up to 1800 W. It also has a built-in circuit breaker. Prices are around US$45.

The PLUGLOCK-PFP circuit-breaker protected locking outlet strip provides enough wall wart spacing for five bulky transformers and can be safely mounted out of sight, in the rear of your rack. Secure clamping design “locks” your transformers and conventional plugs in place, ensuring you never get disconnected from your power source.
