Panasonic is in the process of rolling out its DVCPRO P2 solid state recording system for professional camcorders. Press release here.

The no-tape system will come at a price however. Apparently each 4GB P2 PC Card (which can store around 10 minutes of footage) will cost in the region of $2000.00. That’s around 10% of the price of the camcorder itself. Nice work if you can get it, eh?
