If you’ve been looking for the perfect little getaway, where the service is…er…unusual and the ambience a cut above your average Best Western, you need look no further than this quaint ex military prison in Latvia.
The Karostas Cietums prison offers visitors a fully inclusive board and breakfast, including the use of handcuffs and being escorted to your cell for the night.
They say you can tell the state of a civilization by the things they find entertaining, and if that’s the case goodness knows where we’re heading right now. The prison blurb promises ‘hard beds and thin blankets‘, as well as a ‘variety‘ of unnamed events to spice things up.
Rather ominously, every visitor is expected to sign a special agreement in advance, to indicate that they’re aware of what they’re letting themselves in for. If that doesn’t make you keen to visit, we don’t know what will.
Fortunately for those brave souls willing to attend, there’s also an in-room mini bar, limited room service (we’ll whip you up something in a minute, sir) and ‘entertainment’ thrown in for your £10 per person per night.
The only thing we’re wondering is, where did they put all the old prisoners now that this one is empty? In the local Hyatt Regency?
