QFO Mini Quad-Fighter Drone – slug it out on the hover

So you’re thinking we’ve done quad-copters by now, right? Seen everything there is to see, nothing new here, time to move on? Yeah well maybe not. Get ready for the onslaught of the dueling air machines. It will be fierce.

This QFO Mini Quad-Fighter Drone is classified as a ‘gaming’ quad, which means you can do more with it than just crash into your mother’s favorite flower vase at high speed. For instance you can land it upright. Yeah good luck.

Actually the two main differences between this puppy and the other quads out there is the fact that it flies via a tilt-fly controller. Get it moving around by simply twisting your wrist, instead of having to use two hands to move throttles and stuff. The second difference is the fact that if you have two or more of these in close proximity, you can battle with them using the on-board IR lasers.

Click the red trigger and shoot a beam at an opposing quad. Apparently they also have something called full 3D collision protection, which we think means those little prop protectors which stop extra damage if you hit. You can buy one of these things for $99.99 on a good day. Or bad, come to that.

  • aside from looking cool, the design seems to ignore any common sense elements. Rotors on bottom bad for landings and attacks from below, and the rotor guards leave 2/3 of the rotors unprotected. Also, how are you supposed to see if you are anywhere close to hitting your target with a laser in 3d space?
