QuoteCoil tries to make finding quotes an easy task

Occasionally in conversation or writing, you’ll remember a quote that relates to the current topic. But maybe you only remember part of it, or you can’t seem to place who said it. Thankfully with the power of the internet, it’s not too difficult to track down the missing details. In fact, one site aims to make it easier than ever.

QuoteCoil is a simple site that provides a simple service. Just enter a few words from a quote or an author, and it will give you the full quote and the name of the person who wrote or spoke it. Unfortunately, in my testing, I found the database to be severely lacking. I tried inputting famous quotes from Shakespeare, Poe, Dickens and Frost, and came up dry. I did manage to find one from a Sherlock Holmes book, though it wasn’t the one I was looking for. It seems that the site tends to focus more on recent quotes from celebrities, rather than literary quotes. That’s fine, but they might want to advertise that fact, rather than just stating that you can look up quotes in general.

  • There should be more literary quotes on the way. Good point Scott!
