The demand for images and illustrations for websites and printed matter is absolutely insatiable. Which is hardly surprising when you consider just how many websites there are, let alone the need from printed marketing material or even hobbyist publications. So it’s always great to be able to announce another service which offers free (and really free, not just royalty free) images for download.
RGBStock is a new free image service, which offers a nice set of free content for download. As with all of these truly free sites, most of the images are not particularly awesome, but we like this site because it has a fairly good selection, which means you should be able to find at least one shot you can use in your project.
We also like the layout of the site, which makes it trivially easy to find stuff. The search function is solid, the thumbnails on the results page also feature an enlarged pop up, and altogether it’s a quick and easy service to use if you’re in a hurry.
One other difference is the rule which requests that you leave a comment on the image page if you use one in your project. It’s a nice touch and at least goes to show the photographer that his work is being used and appreciated. A great little site and the site statistics page is a great way for photographers to gauge which subjects are the most popular and do produce work to fit. Nice.
