Nice Nikkei piece about the seriously dedicated Japanese push to develop commercial robot products for the home. Apparently there are three types of robot coming down the pipe – housesitters, pets and pals. Personally I think that they’re ignoring limited function utility models such as the Trylobyte, Roomba or other home appliance models.
‘JARA also predicts that the Japanese market for robots will be worth 8 trillion yen in 2025, or equivalent to the size of Japan’s current software market.’
