ScanSnap iX100 Mobile Scanner – tiny scanner, powerful software, superb results

My kids hand me endless amounts of artwork that I just can’t throw away. Right now the amount of wax covered paper in my office is definitely some kind of fire hazard. The ScanSnap iX100 Mobile Scanner can have this mess cleaned up in a matter of hours (yep, there’s a lot).

This is a small portable scanner, the type that you often see in hospitals to scan ID cards. Anything more than a single sheet will not fit through this. However, it’s great for scanning important documents (or children’s illustrations). It can scan a color document in 5.2 seconds flat.

The coolest thing about it, though, is the fact that unlike your pathetic smartphone camera scans, this product can scan crumpled paper, straighten skewed paper which feeds badly, and even cope with very faint text on smudged backgrounds, and make it all look perfect. The secret is in the very clever software. It’s a completely wireless device as well, it runs on batteries so no extra wire clutter. It’s also compatible with Android and iOS devices as well as Macs and PCs.

The big draw of this mobile scanner is that it’s a quick and easy solution to unwanted paper clutter. And if you don’t regularly need a scanner, this this tiny model can easily be put away, leaving your desk clear of unnecessary electronics. The ScanSnap iX100 Mobile Scanner is $229.
