Seek Thermal Camera – turn your smartphone into a thermal imaging device

Thermal cameras are very cool. Really. They use sophisticated thermal imaging sensors to capture infrared, even in pitch darkness. That’s how you can find lost black cats in the middle of the night, or detect clogged drain pipes. Of course the ones you see in movies are super sophisticated (or make believe) but now you can own your very own product which will convert your iPhone or Android smartphone into a thermal camera.

The new Seek Thermal Camera Adapter is all you need to start your adventure of finding heat signatures around you. This camera will show you recent footprints, people in the dark, and everything that emits heat. Even cooked food.

The product connects to your smartphone via the microUSB port – which must be OTG compatible, which most modern late model phones are – and captures the heat signatures through its lens. You can view these thermal images on your smartphone. This product can detect heat up to 1000ft away, although the further you get, the weaker the signal and the less distinct the results. The Seek Thermal USB Connector is available for $199, but is currently on back order on the manufacturer’s website.
