Shapify.me aims to let us all enjoy this pleasure. The online service and software download for Mac and Windows computers lets you use a Kinect camera accessory to scan your body in 3D after which you can order a wee little figure for delivery direct to your home.

Fire up the software, make sure you’ve got decent lighting in the room, and then stand still and hold a pose for a minute. Then rotate and repeat until all the angles are captured. Press the print button and the scan will be uploaded to the service and some time later (unspecified) you’ll receive your very own 3D avatar through the post. Are you amazed yet?
