Skippable ads come to YouTube

It’s safe to say that YouTube has revolutionized the way the world views video content. It took them a while, but the company finally found a good way to let the uploaders make a bit of money off the content they provide. Unfortunately for the viewer, this means seeing ads. Sure, the little ones that pop up at the bottom aren’t too bad, as you can just click them away. What’s really annoying are the ones that have video advertisements that you can’t click past. Well this might be changing.

A new type of ad called TrueView has been launched over at YouTube, which gives viewers the option to click past video advertisements. This option comes after watching the first five seconds of the ad. It works out for all parties, as advertisers only pay for the customers that choose not to click the skip button. Uninterested viewers win because they don’t have to sit through a full 30-second ad before watching what they came there to see. Here’s hoping that we start seeing these kinds of ads grow in popularity.
