Internet access is one of those things that almost seems mandatory these days. Since I hate trying to hunt around for someplace that offers free WiFi when I’m out, I’ve made sure that I can tether my phone for 3G access. However, if you’re someone that just needs it now and then, that’s probably not the best move, financially. Well Skype has announced Skype Access, which will let you pay by the minute at certain hotspots.
The great thing about this is not only are you only paying for the amount you use (by using Skype Credit), but their locations aren’t just limited to the US and UK. They have over 500,000 participating hotspots all over the globe. Access per minute is $.14, which isn’t bad if you only need to get on to check mail or make a quick call to someone on the other side of the world. All you need is the latest version of Skype and funds in your Skype Credit account.
